Product Details

Antique, stock number LTC, A919. This offering is for the pictured French Mle 1866-74 Gras Shotgun. In good looking condition, this originally started as Mle 1866 Chassepot needle fire rifle and later converted to Gras 11mm centerfire in 1879 and also has the grass updated in 1880 and marked M80 on the receivers side.

At some point this has been converted to a smooth bore shotgun, appears to be 28 gauge. Still in full military configuration this was likely converted between the wars for commercial sales.

Bolt action single shot rifle with a 32 inch barrel. The brite metal finish has turned a plumb patina. Original cleaning rod is present. Conversion appears to have the original barrel bored larger and smooth with the bolt head changed out. Appears mechanically fine.

Sound condition French walnut stock with typical small dings and compressions. Chambered in 28 gauge +/- smooth bore with a few frost spots.

Makes a fine antique for the military collector.
