Product Details

This offering is for the pictured French Berthier 1902/M16 Carbine. In good looking condition and rebuilt over the years of service. Made as the Model 1902 in 1923 and received the M16 upgrade package of a new 5 round magazine and other small details.

Only 25,000 of this variation were produce and all were sent to Indochina service

Marked from Tulle on the side rail with a MAC 1923 dated barrel. Serial numbers no longer match. Metal finish is worn to gun metal gray on the receiver, barrel and barrel bands with a few areas of pitting, mostly at the wood line. Trigger guard and 5 round magazine are blued with wear.

Sound stock and hand guard has been sanded and refinished, arsenal filled side cleaning rod slot, handguard is damaged and shortened.

Chambered in 8mm Lebel the bore is brite has good rifling with darker frosted lands and grooves. Not import marked.

Makes a fine rifle for the military collector.
