This offering is for the pictured German WW2 Police Dress Bayonet. In good looking used condition and maker marked from PS Luneschloss of Solingen.

Dress bayonets were private purchase item and worn for ceremonial or dress purposes. Similar in appearance to rifle bayonets but typically have a plated finish and no provision to mount to rifle. Each organization has its own design and could be ordered with as much adornment as one could afford.

This one is 17.5 inches in overall length with a 13 inch blade. Metal is plated, blade and some frost pitting towards the tip. Grip metal is an eagle's head with scroll work on the cross guard. Grips are stag horn with cracks present and the German Police emblem on one side.

Sound steel mounted leather scabbard with matching serial number.

Makes a fine item for the military collector.
