Item #4734 This offering is for the pictured Japanese Model Gun Company Lever Action Prop. In good looking condition, this is not a firearm but made to look the part for Japanese collectors and later exported to the American market for movie props and displays.

36 inches in overall length and made from zinc alloys on most parts. Barrel is plugged at manufacture. Bolt and all parts are non-firing. The lever and trigger function and looks the part.

Marked on the side SMG 1977, pretty sure the stands for "Safe Model" Gun, a required marking in Japan after 1975. After 1977 the toy/models were required for be made for soft alloys, likely the 1977 stamping.

A competitive Japanese market in the 1960's-1970 with several makers competing in the realistic replica market, however there is no makers marking on this one. Marked "made in Japan" on the base plate.

Attractive hard wood stock set.

Makes a fine item for the collector.
