Item #3590 This offering is for the pictured British 1822 Pattern Grenadier Guard Sword. In good looking condition and likely made before 1846.
38 inches in overall length with a 32.25 inch blade. The blade is steel turning darker with patina and is a pipe back design that was discontinued after 1846. Brass handle and guard are the gothic type with a ray skin covered wood grip. the covering is missing the wire wrap ands show wear and tear. Cross guard has the neat folding edge for storage.
Has the grenadier bomb emblem formed into the basket and the later George V, GR royal emblem updated to the bomb..
The leather scabbard is not present.
Makes a fine item for the military collector. Just this 1 available. |
