Japanese Arisaka Type 44 Carbine. In nice looking condition, these handy carbines were intended for Cavalry or mounted units and feature the integral folding bayonet.

Maker marked from the Kokura Arsenal, this has a handsome toned stock and hand guard with a few dings and compression's as shown and a few grain cracks where the forend meets the forend metal..

Metal is fully blued, thinning on the receiver and barrel top, silvering at the sharp edges, and a slightly splotchy on the right receiver area. Royal Chrysanthemum is struck from the receiver.

Serial numbers match receive, bolt and bayonet base. Bayonet lock does not match. Chambered in 6.5 Arisaka the bore has very good rifling, brite lands with dark frosted grooves. Not import marked.

Makes a fine rifle for the military collector.
