Antique 2005G This offering is for the pictured Austrian Model 1888/95 Mannlicher Rifle. In fair-good looking condition and maker marked from the state arsenals at OEWG, Osterreichische Waffenfabrics Gesellschaft Steyr.

The Model 1888 rifle was a technical upgrade from the M1886 11mm cartridge adopted just 2 years before. This Model 1888/95 was the new caliber 8x50r, some were further converted to 8x56r.

This has seen ample use in Austro-Hungarian service, and as a hand me down in the Middle East.

Serial numbered only on the barrel. Straight pull action repeater with a 30.25 inch military barrel. Metal finish is worn to gun metal gray with some frost and patina spots. Rear sight is missing the slider.

Sound European hard wood stock with typical scuffs and wear.

Chambered in 8x50r the bore has only fair rifling, darker with frosted lands and darker grooves.

Makes a good rifle for the military collector.
