This offering is for the pictured German Model 1871/84 Mauser Bayonet. In good looking condition and made for use on the M71/84 Mauser rifles. Dated 1888 on the spine and maker marked from CG Haenel.

This bayonet is a shorter redesign of the M1871 bayonet for the new repeater version M71/84.

14 3/4 in overall length with a 9 3/4 inch blade. Blade is brite and has been sharpened. Metal is correctly brite with good grips and lock button. Unit marked on the cross guard with imperial proofs. Partly identifiable by the unique "hump-back" design on the upper grip and tang.

The scabbard is missing as most are. It was leather with steel mounts and the leather simply did not hold up to military services.

Somewhat uncommon bayonet.

Makes a fine display for the military collector.
