Item #4709 This offering is for the pictured Belgian WW1 Model 1916 Mauser Bayonet. In good looking condition. This model was manufactured by MAE, Manufacture D'Armes, de la Etat the government state arsenals.
Made to for the M1889 rifle and M89/16 Carbines.
Due to WW1 emergency needs it was produced at several remote factories, in France and England after the factory in Liege was forced to evacuate.
The Model 1916 was made with some variations due to the desperate manufacturing situation. This one has the T Back blade made from recycled Gras bayonets and has a faint maker and 1887 date on the spine.
22 3/8 inches in overall length with a 17 5/8 inch T back blade. Muzzle ring is 17.5mm diameter hole. Bayonet metal is blued with average light wear, lock button works fine.
Attractive hard wood grips.
Includes the original steel scabbard and leather bayonet frog.
Makes a fine item for the military collector.
