Antique. Stock number #LTC.A907 This offering is for the pictured Remington Rolling Block Rifle. In good looking condition, maker marked from Remington Arms on contract to Greece.

A bit uncommon. The story of the Greek rifle is that Greece contracted for them but did not have the money or credit. Remington sought to sell the Greek rifles to France who eagerly wanted them for a higher price. Nearly 15,000 rifles were made with only 5000, going to Greece and the remainder to France.

Initial chambering was .42 Russian Berdan and it is believed all of the rifles were rechambered to .43 Spanish.

This is the standard Remington military rifle design, single shot with a 35 inch barrel. The Greek attributes are the serial number on the receiver, crown marked on the receiver, barrel and barrel bands, unique rear sight and letter G on the butt stock

The original brite finish is turned gray and patina, few sports of frost or pitting, mechanically appears fine.

Sound American hard wood stock set, with typical dings and scuffs, soldier initials on the butt.

Chambered in .43 Spanish the bore has very good rifling, frost spots lands and grooves.

Makes a fine rifle for the military collector.
