Item #4573 This offering is for the pictured WW1 British Battye INERT Emergency Hand Grenade. In good looking condition, likely a dug relic.
Design during urgent emergency WW1 arms demands by Major BC Battye. A simple iron segmented head with a wooden plug and simple wick or percussion fuse. Adopted in 1915 for a short time before production of the superior Mills Bome was underway. These cast bodies were produced en mass at Bethune France and the fuses provided by England.
3 1/8 inches tall with an added paint finish. Uncommon item as these were considered unsafe due to many accidents and was discontinued the same year.
No powders or primers safe for your military display. Makes a fine display for the military collector.
State restrictions may apply.
